Allen Mansions is a luxury mansion block in Kensington. The original brief from the residents was to enhance of the entrance hallway which felt dark and enclosed. We proposed lowering the floor level to increase the floor to ceiling height, moving the door to extend the area, and introducing a fully glazed façade. Working with period features in a contemporary manner, the effect was to enlarge the scale of the space, improve its proportions, make it lighter and airier, and in the process generally to provide a more prestigious and discerning feel thereby enhancing for the residents both their environment and their investment.
